The Pittsburgh Penguins are in an interesting position as a franchise, but any suggestion of a Sidney Crosby departure may not be true after all. Sidney Crosby has been the face of the Pittsburgh Penguins for two decades now, but with his contract up after the upcoming season, there have been questions about his future in Pittsburgh. Now however, those suggestions are about to be shut down, as an Insider has now revealed that the two parties are deep in negotiations for what should be one final contract in the NHL for No. 87. The team and player are confident a deal will be agreed upon and formalized soon, the sources said.

The update from The Athletic's Rob Rossi came with no details about a potential deal, but given all that he's done for the Penguins franchise, including leading them to three Stanley Cup's, it's safe to say that they'll treat him well. Even at 35-years of age, Crosby produced another incredible season in 2023-24, tallying 42 goals and 94 points in 82 games played, with the team narrowly missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Whether or not the team can take one last run at the Cup with their core led by Crosby is yet to be seen, but after two decades of incredible play and incredible leadership on and off the ice, it's safe to say that not only will he be considered one of the best Penguins of all time, but will go down as one of the NHL's best ever players.
