Mitch Marner trade rumors intensify despite Craig Berube sighting

Toronto Maple Leafs have reportedly not officially discussed the possibility of trading Mitch Marner yet; however, speculation remains rampant surrounding the Leaf star.

Yesterday, Marner was seen having lunch with new head coach Craig Berube, complicating rumors about him being traded. It would seem a but odd for Berube to go out of his way to get to know Marner if he knew he wasn't going to play for him anyways.

At the same time though, NHL insider David Pagnotta has linked four teams to Marner. One is the Nashville Predators, who we already knew about, but now he adds the Stars, Blackhawks, and Golden Knights to the list.

When fans were asked to submit trade ideas, there was one trade with the Predators that had Jusse Saros and forward Jeremy Lauzon going back to the Leafs. However, none of these proposed trades included the Golden Knights, Stars, or Blackhawks.

One trade did include the Anaheim Ducks though as it was Trevor Zegras for Marner one-for-one. Fans correctly called out this proposal as obvious bait. If it wasn't obvious enough though, another proposal was Marner for Matt Rempe, also one-for one.

The Leafs may very well trade Marner this offseason, but they are going to have to get a lot more in return than a single player of Zegras' caliber.
