Today on an episode of Spittin' Chiclets Paul Bissonnette made a bold prediction for the NHL season while comparing the Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers. The Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers are linked as teams with a ton of talent but struggle when it matters. The Edmonton Oilers shook that reputation last season after making the Stanley Cup Finals. With a new season underway, both teams have struggled immensely to find their groove. After each team's struggles the Spittin Chiclets crew decided to debate which team has a better outlook this season. The topic was brought up by Paul Bissonnette. While wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey he makes the claim that the Maple Leafs will go further in the Stanley Cup Playoffs this summer. He claimed that the the Toronto Maple Leafs will undoubtedly make it further in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. I would bet my life that the Toronto Maple Leafs go further than the Edmonton Oilers. Paul Bissonnette continues on to say that it is more of a doubt in Edmonton than a full-on belief in the Toronto Maple Leafs to this point. Paul Bissonnette thinks there is no way that the Edmonton Oilers can make another deep playoff run in the Western Conference this season. There's no way that Edmonton's going to the finals with the way that the West is and the way that they started After making these comments Spittin' Chiclets co-host and former Edmonton Oiler Ryan Whitney spoke up. He spoke about how to this point the Edmonton Oilers' most talented players have not played well and how that will change at some point this season. Right now their best players are their worst players and you need them to get going which they will.

Bissonnette has been known in the past for his bias in favor of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Only time will be able to tell if this is once again bias coming into play or objective thought. The Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers are continually linked each season. Auston Matthews and Connor McDavid are always pitted against one another in discussions for the best player in the world. Now their teams are being put up against one another. Ultimately it is going to come down to which team can turn things around at the right time. Winning early in the season is not as important as going into the Stanley Cup Playoffs in a groove. Whichever team can find success and keep it by the time the playoffs begin will likely see more success in the end.
