This afternoon a new report from NHL insider Darren Dreger revealed that Maple Leafs star Mitch Marner and his agent are unhappy with his current playing time. The Toronto Maple Leafs season is well underway and each player on the team is starting to fit within their role. Despite an up-and-down beginning to the year the Maple Leafs have steadied out and played well. A lot of their success has come due to the play of stars like Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews. To this point in the NHL season, Mitch Marner leads the Toronto Maple Leafs in points and time on ice. So far this season Mitch Marner is playing upwards of 21 minutes per game. This puts Mitch Marner over a minute ahead of Auston Matthews who is second in overall ice time. Under normal circumstances playing as much as possible would be ideal for a superstar player. However, with Mitch Marner hoping to stay healthy as he is on an expiring contract the situation is a bit more complex. This has led to a report of complaints from Mitch Marner's agent over too much ice time.
Insider Darren Dreger reveals Mitch Marner wants less ice-time
In a new segment on his show Insider Trading NHL insider Darren Dreger spoke about rumblings out of the Toronto Maple Leafs organization. According to his sources, Mitch Marner's agent is concerned he is playing too much.

In recent days this is the second complaint that the Toronto Maple Leafs and Craig Berube have received over ice time. Originally forward William Nylander was frustrated about his lack of ice time and opportunities to play the penalty kill. It seems as though Craig Berube has done a poor job of managing the personalities in the locker room so far and now things are being taken to the public to be resolved.

Luckily it seems there might be a natural solution to all of Craig Berube's problems. Taking several minutes of Mitch Marner's ice time and giving them to William Nylander over the next few games. Of course, at the end of the day winning games is what matters most to Craig Berube so if Mitch Marner is giving the team a better chance he likely will not care to make any changes. The Toronto Maple Leafs will take on Craig Berube's former team the St. Louis Blues on Saturday it will be interesting to see if he decides to make any lineup changes ahead of the game.
