Being fired is obviously never a good thing, but Sheldon Keefe revealed that some people around the league were happy for him after he left the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Toronto is both the largest and most infamous hockey markets in the world. As a result, everyone from the players to management is under a higher level of scrutiny on the Toronto Maple Leafs. Apparently, the team's reputation is fully noticed by coaches around the league, as several congratulated Keefe when he left the team.

Sheldon Keefe says that it was a tremendous honour to coach the Toronto Maple Leafs, but that he has had numerous well-established NHL coaches congratulate him on leaving the market 🗣️

Of course, Keefe has since been brought on as the next head coach of the New Jersey Devils. During his first press conference with the team, Keefe reflected on his time in Toronto, noting how he grew as a coach, making himself much better at his job now than he was when he first started.
