The Toronto Maple Leafs continue looking to load up their roster ahead of their eventual 2025 playoff run and tonight they have been connected to several new options. This season the Toronto Maple Leafs have played well and maintained their reputation as a serious contender in the Eastern Conference. With that said the Maple Leafs still have a severe lack of depth particularly on offense. This lack of depth has led to a lot of trade reports and rumors connecting the Toronto Maple Leafs to several players some bigger names than others. This afternoon a report from respected Maple Leafs reporter Luke Fox has connected the Maple Leafs to five players in potential trade negotiations as the season goes on.
Maple Leafs connected to several top players including Canadiens forward
A new report from Luke Fox this evening has put together a short list of players the Toronto Maple Leafs will likely be interested in acquiring and checking in on this season.

Some of the names on this list like Brock Nelson and Nick Bjugstad should be familiar as the Maple Leafs have been connected to them at multiple points already this season. However, there are still several new intriguing names including Jake Evans from the rival Montreal Canadiens. This report goes along with another report from insider David Pagnotta who linked the Maple Leafs to Jake Evans as well.

The most intriguing thing about Jake Evans compared to most of the other players mentioned is his age. While all of the other players mentioned are in their 30s Jake Evans is just 28 and in the prime of his career. This season in 22 games Jake Evans has 11 points and is on pace for a career year overall. He would provide incredible depth and has positional versatility to play both at center and on the wing. If the Montreal Canadiens would be willing to deal Jake Evans for some young pieces as they rebuild it is a move the Toronto Maple Leafs have to consider. For now this move is just one of many scenarios throughout the NHL season but eventually it will be a lot of fun to see which connections become reality and which were just fantasy.
