Tonight a new link has been made between the Nashville Predators and the Toronto Maple Leafs that could lead to the end of Nick Robertson's time as a Maple Leaf. Earlier this month Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson's name resurfaced in trade rumors as he continues to struggle to fit into the lineup. With Robertson's future in Toronto so uncertain there has once again been a keen eye placed on the rest of the NHL looking out for potential players who could replace him going forward. Over the last several seasons Nick Robertson has been the source of a lot of frustration for Maple Leafs fans. Many had hoped that with new head coach Craig Berube in the mix he could get Nick Robertson back on track and find a way to make his game gel with the core group. Instead so far this season the Maple Leafs have once again failed to find a way to get Robertson involved and now most are ready to move on from him.

With the Maple Leafs now healthy the trade speculation has ramped up quite a bit and a new report from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman about a potentially available replacement has kicked things into overdrive.
Maple Leafs connected to Predators forward Juuso Parssinen
In a new segment NHL insider Elliotte Friedman spoke about the struggling Nashville Predators and how they are looking to make a change to spark their roster going forward. According to Friedman one of the players who the Predators could look to move on from is 23-year-old forward Juuso Parssinen. Friedman believes the player could use a change of scenery and the Predators might be interested in getting a young player of their own to start fresh with.

With Parssinen's name now out there as a potential trade candidate immediately he is looked at as a potential replacement for Robertson. Both are still young players struggling to produce offense but where they differ is in size and style of game overall. Robertson is a smaller skilled player who struggles in bottom-six roles whereas Juuso Parssinen is 6'3 and plays a physical style of game that would better mesh with what the Maple Leafs currently need.

Of course, it would be disappointing to give up on Robertson after all of this time spent invested in him but it could work out in the Maple Leafs' favor if they instead acquire a player that is Craig Berube's kind of guy. At this stage, there are no confirmed trade talks between the two sides but trades involving young players often involve a similarly struggling young player heading back the other way. It will be interesting to watch and see if the Maple Leafs make a move involving Robertson of if they just continue to get out of him what they can for now. As this situation continues to develop we will pass along the latest news on Nick Robertson's future in Toronto.
