With only 48 hours or so to go until the trade deadline, insider Frank Seravalli revealed some critical information regarding Brock Boeser's future in Vancouver.

On the most recent episode of 'Canucks Conversation', David Quadrelli and Harman Dayal sat down with NHL insider Frank Seravalli to discuss the latest trade rumors involving the Vancouver Canucks in advance of this Friday's NHL Trade Deadline.

Seravalli started off by dissecting the likelihood of Brock Boeser remaining with the team past the deadline.

"I would say 40% chance they extend him, 25% chance they keep him as a rental-so 65% chance Brock Boeser is a Vancouver Canuck past Friday at noon, and a 35% chance of him being traded," said Frank Seravalli.

He added that Boeser's future is closely connected with the Canucks' future path.

"It's a philosophical conversation: do we need to vastly re-tool this team, and is Pettersson moving, whether it's now or before the draft? Miller's gone. If Pettersson is gone and if you remove Boeser, you have zero chance. Pack it in for the next three-plus years. I don't care what kind of magic Quinn Hughes can create-you don't have a chance to compete. No team is going to give back assets that could be used in a competitive fashion for the now. The only teams trading for Boeser are teams in contender mode."

- Frank Seravalli

The Canucks need to decide if Boeser is their future or not

At this crossroads of Vancouver's season, the front office has to take a tough decision: invest in Boeser for the long term or pursue an alternative course through a doubtful future.

"At one point, Brock was supposed to be the key secondary scoring piece for a team that was going to contend for a Stanley Cup, and now we're not only potentially missing the playoffs this year, but if things go haywire with Pettersson and we have to step back for a couple years, does it make sense to have Boeser extended on a six-year deal if it's going to take us three years to compete again?"

- Frank Seravalli

With the calendar running out and only 48 hours until the trade deadline, the Canucks must answer whether they're rebuilding around Quinn Hughes or exploring a more systemic rebuild, one that could likely shape the organization for years to come.
