There is a left-shot defenseman on the Canucks who has recently been made available, and now the Jets have been linked to acquiring him.

The Vancouver Canucks strengthened their blue line with the addition of Marcus Pettersson from the Pittsburgh Penguins. That move, however, placed another one of their defensemen in a position for trading.

Carson Soucy is struggling with the Canucks

Carson Soucy hasn't played well this season, notching two goals, six points, and a minus-15 rating.

Teams, though, can probably still have an interest in him, having seen him at times become a reliable top-four blue-liner when healthy. There are three potential destinations for him.

Winnipeg Jets could be seen as the frontrunners

The Winnipeg Jets have a 38-14-3 record and have been having a tremendous campaign. Despite all that success, an additional blue liner, particularly a left-shooter, would make them an even deeper playoff contender. Soucy could fit in well.

The Dallas Stars, having acquired Cody Ceci in a move with the Sharks, will try to fortify its blue line.

Soucy's two-way capabilities and big-minutes player will make him a target for them. His shutdown capabilities will make him an ideal fit for their group of defenders.

Lastly, in a tie for third in the Atlantic Division, the Ottawa Senators have a playoff position in their grasp. They will try to upgrade their blue line, and with Soucy signed for one additional campaign, he will make a strong addition.

Soucy could fill out their second, possibly third, blue-line unit, offering much-needed blue-chip talent in a deep playoff run.
