Winnipeg Jets 2022 NHL draft pick Rutger McGroarty reportedly wants out of Winnipeg after refusing to sign with his team once again.

According to Elliotte Friedman, Jets top prospect Rutger McGroarty's name has been flying around trade discussions as he is yet to sign an entry level contract with his team. Drafted in the 2022 NHL draft at 14th overall, McGroarty has yet to sign and will be heading for another year at Michigan despite him showing he is more than NHL ready.

«His family advisor and the Jets are not talking, but the one thing I can tell you is that I have heard Rutger McGroarty has come up in trade discussions.»

The 2022 14th overall pick had 52 points in 36 GP for Univ. of Michigan (NCAA). McGroarty had previously announced that he was returning to school for his junior year. #GoJetsGo hold his signing rights for 2 more years.

It was Cutter Gauthier who first broke the ice, now it will be Rutger McGroarty who will be the second prospect in the draft to request a trade out of their drafted team.
