We've been hearing for months that the investigation into the Junior Team Canada scandal is over and that five players will be suspended. The NHL still hasn't budged, and we learned last week that the investigation is not over after all, which puts the whole thing on hold. The NHL certainly needs to know the names of the players involved, but obviously prefers not to make a decision before the outcome. As for the international aspect, that's a different story. All players in the 2018 edition are suspended from all international competitions until further notice. Earlier, Hockey Canada made the decision that until the investigation and decision-making process into the alleged 2018 incident is complete, no 2018 National Junior Team players will be considered for Team Canada participation. This has been communicated to Team Canada's management group at the IIHF World Men's Championship. This means that those at fault could deprive others of representing their country for the Olympic Games and World Championships. Players like Cale Makar, for example. I don't know if the strategy is to get things moving and get the players involved talking, but it sounds like it. Fortunately, the Winter Olympics aren't in 2024. Credit: Flyers Insider
