A crucial night for the Canadiens' future tonight

There are only four games left in the Montreal Canadiens' season, just like the Florida Panthers.

Tonight, both teams will be in action and the outcome of their respective games could have a big impact on the future of the Tricolore.

Indeed, while Martin St-Louis' team has the 5th best odds in the lottery, the CH is currently guaranteed to select in the top 7 of the next draft, should the first two picks be won by two teams behind the Habs.

With only one point separating them from the 6th place Arizona Coyotes, it is still very plausible that the Tricolore could lose an important draft spot. Arizona will face the Seattle Kraken later tonight, and the result of that game, combined with the CH, could change the draft picture.

Also, the heated playoff race between the Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Islanders and Panthers could be very much on the line tonight.

With the Islanders and Panthers occupying the two playoff spots, and the Penguins trailing by only one point, all three teams will be in action.

Pittsburgh will have the tough task of beating the Minnesota Wild, Florida will play the Ottawa Senators, and New York will face the Lightning.

At first glance, it doesn't look good for the Habs' second first round pick, as the Panthers could be a serious playoff contender tonight.

Should the Panthers make the post-season, Kent Hughes would automatically lose a top-15 pick in the upcoming draft.
