Following the passing of Adam Johnson all attention has turned to the other player involved in the collision Matt Petgrave, has been the target of racist comments.

Coming in his defense is one of Johnon's teammates, who was present at the game and has shared his perspective on social media.

Westin Michaud, player on the Nottingham Panthers, and teammate of Adam Johnson, who passed away after taking a skate to the throat from Matt Petgrave, has spoken out.

Michaud is calling for the hate towards Petgrave to stop, and says the entire play was a freak accident.

There you have it, the cowards watching a pixelated video and calling for the head of Petgrave should come to a full stop. Michaud saw the entire play unfold in front of his eyes.
