The Flames parted ways with Darryl Sutter after a year full of controversies. He made multiple questionnable comments to the medias and the players were resenting him. There was even rumors that some even threaten the Flames to leave the team if Sutter came back next season. Now that the job is vacant, the search goes on to find Sutter's replacement.
Calgary Flames Officially Eying Three New Head Coach Names
Elliotte Friedman reported that three internal candidates in the Flames will be given chances to interview for the job. The word is from some of the people is that they do plan on giving legit chances to their 3 internal candidates, Ryan Huska, Kirk Muller, who I believe has interviewed with a couple of other teams, and also Mitch Love, the 2-time AHL COTY. All of them have impressive record sheets. Huska has been assistant-coach in Calgary since 2018. Muller's resume is impressive. He's been an assistant-coach in the NHL since 2006, except for three seasons, where he was head coach of the Carolina Hurricanes. He might be the most qualified person for the job. As for Love, he spent the last two seasons coaching the Wranglers in the AHL.

The Flames have a lot of talent in the organization and an inside hire seems highly probable.
