The Clagary Flames are currently only four points out of an NHL Wild Card spot with only 10 games left in their season. There has been a lot of speculation on what is wrong with the team. It always related back to the disjointed dressing room, and the lack of communication between the head coach, Darryl Sutter and his players.
Sutter is Driving the Flames Crazy
During a recent episode of the Barn Burner podcast, insider Frank Seravalli from the Daily Faceoff recalled the incident where Sutter was criticized for a post game interview, where he pretended that he did not know that Jakob Pelletier had just made his NHL debut. Seravalli explained that the root of the problem is how the dressing room operates, which drives people crazy. Seravalli explained that the incident involving Pelletier went back a few days before the interview, many people within the Flames were wondering if Pelletier would be making his NHL debut, so that they can organize seats for his family. Sutter refused to confirm if he was going to make his debut, he finally gave an answer when approached by another player of the Flames: So, finally it took another player to go upstairs and say 'what are we doing here? This kid's been hanging around, is he making his debut or not? And if he is, at least give him enough courtesy to say hey, yeah, you're in. Let's get your parents in here to make sure they see your first NHL game. Seravalli commented that after that conversation, Sutter finally told Pelletier that he would be playing. This incident clearly hurt Sutter's ego, he would not let his mistake go, and instead doubled down by making fun of Pelletier during a news conference. Oh, you forced my hand into playing this kid, and this is how I'm going to handle it publicly, just to let everyone know that this should have been my call. Seravalli explained that this incident is a great example of Sutter driving everyone in the Flames organization crazy. That was his way of pushing back. And that's the stuff that goes on behind the scenes that drives people absolutely bananas.

As seen on Bladeofsteel - Insider on what 'drives people absolutely bananas' behind the scenes in Calgary
