NHL All-Star Weekend is not what it once was. The popularity of the event is diminishing and the league is trying to find solutions, but to no avail. The skills competitions have become very large, even Nick Suzuki won his competition on a golf course. However, the game itself is redundant and people are not getting on board as easily. The three-on-three formula is not a bad idea, as it allows for spectacular field hockey and many turnovers. Maxim Lapierre would keep this formula, but with the three best players of each team.

Obviously, there could not be the best top 3 of the 32 teams in the All-Star Game, since it would never end. Lapierre says the idea could be perfected, but let's face it, seeing Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Darnell Nurse against Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kristopher Letang, for example, would be sweet.
