Today a new interview with Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet revealed that he received a message from Sidney Crosby after the team's trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Earlier this week the Vancouver Canucks made the huge decision to trade for Marcus Pettersson and Drew O'Connor. The trade showed to the fan base and the entire NHL that the Canucks are still looking to compete this season despite trading J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers. Since arriving from the Pittsburgh Penguins there has been a lot of analysis regarding the impact that both Pettersson and O'Connor can have on the Canucks lineup and culture. Pettersson himself spoke to the media today and gave a bit of insight on what he hopes to bring to the Canucks lineup this season.

This afternoon a new interview with Rick Tocchet revealed that Sidney Crosby sent him a message regarding the trade and the players coming to Vancouver from Pittsburgh.
Sidney Crosby Sends Rick Tocchet A Message Regarding New Canucks Additions
During his press conference this afternoon Rick Tocchet spoke to the media and was asked once again about the trade that the Canucks made. Tocchet in his answer confirmed that he spoke with Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby who was very complimentary of both Pettersson and O'Connor and told Tocchet the Canucks got good players and good teammates in both guys.

This further cements that the Canucks made a good decision in adding both Pettersson and O'Connor to the lineup. It does not happen often that a player who is traded is complimented publicly by their former captain as they head to their new home. Hopefully, the high character and talent of both Pettersson and O'Connor can serve as a reset for the Canucks both on and off the ice as they look to continue their push toward the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
