Marc Bergevin has made mistakes with his contracts, and one of them was settled by Kent Hughes this summer. Mike Hoffman, against all odds, is back in San Jose. Now, there are two contracts left to deal with, Brendan Gallagher and Joel Armia. While number 11 has his uses with his leadership and work ethic, this is not the case for number 40, who may not start the season with the Habs. That wouldn't be surprising, according to Montreal Gazette reporter Stu Cowan. Armia has a hefty contract of 3.4 million a year for two seasons, which makes him in no way attractive. However, Hughes is beginning to show us that he's very imaginative when it comes to trading a player. The other option is to send him to Laval via the waivers. In either case, he wouldn't be in Montreal to start the campaign.

Wouldn't be surprised if Armia doesn't start season with Habs.- Stu Cowan (@StuCowan1) September 20, 2023
