We have just learned that Juraj Slafkovsky has just received a huge recognition from his native country, as he was named the second Slovak athlete of the year, just behind the gold medalist skier at the last Olympic Games, Petra Vlhova.

It is at these same Olympic Games that the first overall pick of the Canadiens left his mark, in an incredible way, by being named the most outstanding hockey player of the Olympics, with a collection of seven goals in seven games, at only 17 years old. He also helped his country by defying the odds and winning a bronze medal for Slovakia. It is a huge mark for an athlete to have the chance to shine for his country in this way at an international event. Congratulations Juraj!
