What a debut it was for Kent Hughes this summer, as he experienced his first NHL draft in his general manager's shoes, for the Canadiens and in his hometown of Montreal.

The Canadiens new GM managed to impress the gallery with the selection of Juraj Slafkovsky and the two trades that brought Kirby Dach to Montreal on the first day of the draft, but he could also have made another splash on the second day.

Kent Hughes' son, Jack, was available and was selected 51st overall by the Los Angeles Kings. With the 33rd pick (Owen Beck) and the 62nd pick (Lane Hutson), the Habs have nothing to be ashamed of with their selections, but Kent still wanted to make it clear why he didn't want to select his boy.

Check out the segment where Kent Hughes talks about the possibility of drafting his son below, when he was the guest of Guillaume Latendresse and Maxim Lapierre on the La Poche Bleue podcast Wednesday night.
