It's a shame, but Logan Mailloux was demoted to the Laval Rocket on Tuesday afternoon. The news made the rounds on the web, because no one thought he'd leave before the end of the Canadiens' training camp. The young man has turned a lot of heads in the last three weeks and left a solid impression. He'll now go on to play big minutes with the Rocket. Former Canadiens scout Grant McCagg even believes he'll be the first defenseman recalled. Not only is he dominant, he doesn't have to go through the ballot to return to the AHL. No surprise here. Mailloux will play more than 25 minutes a game in Laval most nights, and if the Tricolore is out of the playoff race in March and trades David Savard/Gustav Lindstrom, expect him to be recalled. This is indeed very possible, because the CH are not yet ready for the playoffs. We could see a surprise, but we have to be realistic.
