On May 17, 2014, the Montreal Canadiens organization was changed forever. It all started with an intense game between the New York Rangers and the Canadiens on day three of the Eastern Conference Finals. No one suspected that a collision between Chris Kreider of the Rangers and Carey Price of the Canadiens would change the fate of both teams.
<iiffrraammee class='youtube_video' width='100%' frameborder='0' src=https://www.youtube.com/embed/3G4IdpqvYtM title=YouTube video player frameborder=0 allow=accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share allowfullscreen></iiffrraammee>
Early in the second period, Kreider collided with Price head-on. Unfortunately for Carey Price and his team, he suffered a serious knee injury that forced him to be replaced later in the game. The incident had a huge impact on the hockey world. Not only did it influence the outcome of the series, but its long-term consequences are still being felt today. Without this momentous event nine years ago, one can't help but wonder if Carey Price would still be playing hockey today. Nor can we help but wonder if Montreal would have finally won its 25th Stanley Cup. It's hard to imagine what might have happened if that moment hadn't occurred, but what we do know is that history was made on May 17, 2014 when Chris Kreider collided with Carey Price at center ice at the Bell Centre.
