Let's face it, Mike Hoffman is one too many in the Montreal Canadiens lineup. There are already too many forwards, and his on-ice performances don't justify his salary. We tend to think that nobody wants number 68, but according to journalist Dean Blundell, the Blackhawks would be perfect candidates to absorb his contract and fill a hole, while acquiring a draft pick. Chicago has nearly $18 million in cap room for just 19 players, allowing them to absorb the entire contract.... at a fair price. What might be a fair price is for the Hawks to take Hoffman and his contract without salary deductions, as well as a 3rd-round pick against future considerations.
