No one is really surprised to learn that Joel Edmundson is no longer part of the Canadiens' plans, and that his name is being bandied around the NHL. This time, it's The Athletic journalist Marc Antoine Godin who has an interesting proposition. According to him, three teams are interested in the services of number 44, and it's only a matter of time before he leaves the CH. In fact, Godin mentions that the Los Angeles Kings, New York Islanders and Tampa Bay Lightning are at the top of the race. With the Islanders, Edmundson could become an option - again, withholding half his salary - if Lou Lamoriello can't come to terms with Scott Mayfield. You give Edmundson away for half his price and take Bailey's contract, you should be able to go out and get something good (like a 1st-round pick). - Marc-Antoine Godin This deal would make a lot of sense for both teams, and who knows, maybe Kent Hughes would have the chance to get his hands on a third first-round pick this year, if the transaction completes before June 28 of course.

The first round of the playoffs has revealed some potential new trade targets for the Habs.
