The Calgary Flames have taken their namesake a little bit too seriously this season as the whole team seems to be ablaze. The team is nowhere near competing for a playoff spot at the moment and many highly paid players are underperforming.
Flames Defenseman Zadorov Requests Trade From Team
Among the problems Calgary has faced this season is defenseman Nikita Zadorov. The big blueliner has requested a trade from the team, news that has been confirmed publicly by multiple NHL sources.

One team that has been reportedly interested in the defenseman is the Vancouver Canucks, a division rival of the Flames. Vancouver's offense has been clicking at an unsustainably high rate so far this year but their defense has not been great. Thatcher Demko has had to bail the team out many times already this season. As such, it would make sense for the team to pursue a strong defensively minded defenseman like Zadorov. However, the Canucks may be out of luck.

Flames Have No Interest In Trading Zadorov To Division Rival Canucks
Canucks reporter Rick Dhaliwal reported today on the Donnie and Dhali Show that the Flames have little interest in sending Zadorov to their division rival Canucks. I do get the feeling that the Calgary Flames do not want to send him to Vancouver. I get the feeling that they'd rather send him elsewhere. They want to send him somewhere else. That being said, he also suggested that the Canucks could pursue Zadorov in free agency and there may be significant mutual interest from Zadorov's camp, depending on how the rest of the season plays out.

Other teams that have reportedly been involved in the Zadorov sweepstakes are the Toronto Maple Leafs and New Jersey Devils. We have not heard anything about progress being made on a deal for either of those teams in recent days.
