The San Jose Sharks were one of the worst teams in the NHL last season. As a result, they had the fourth overall pick and selected Will Smith. Naturally, trade rumors about star defenseman Erik Karlsson have been flying everywhere. The two teams most often linked with Karlsson are the Carolina Hurricanes and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Both teams have been in talks with San Jose for months. This allows the core of Crosby, Malkin, and Letang to get another shot at lifting the Stanley Cup.
