Canadiens goaltender Samuel Montembeault made a big statement on BPM Sports during his appearance on First Storyteller. According to the Quebecer, the Tricolore would have a chance to make the playoffs next year! During his interview with Jean-Charles Lajoie, Montembeault mentioned that he noticed a progression and an increase in motivation within their young team. Even with the many injuries, they were able to play with any club at times and not make it easy on the opposition.

In the first two months of the 2022-23 season, the Canadiens have gone 14-12-2. Their most consecutive losses in regulation time was 2 and 8 of their 14 wins came in the usual 60 minutes of play. After those 28 games, the CH was the 20th team in the standings, which means 4 playoff spots away. Could the Habs have made the playoffs if they had played the entire season with the same lineup as in the first few weeks? Personally, I agree with Samuel Montembeault and I think the Canadiens have proven that with a healthy team, they are capable of playing well and persevering. Next season's lineup could definitely impress and surprise everyone. It will obviously depend on how healthy the players are between now and October.
