In recent days a wild three-team trade has been making its way around social media. The trade would make the Colorado Avalanche a scary team to see in the playoffs while jumpstarting the Anaheim Ducks rebuild.

Three-Team Mock Trade Changes The Landscape Of The NHL

This afternoon a mock trade proposed by Sportsnet has set social media on fire. The trade would send center Adam Henrique and goaltender Jake Allen to the Colorado Avalanche for a massive bounty.

It would be a three-team trade involving Colorado, Anaheim, and Montreal:

COLORADO would receive Adam Henrique and Jake Allen

ANAHEIM would receive Calum Ritchie, the 1st round COL pick in 2025, Sean Behrens, and Ryan Johansen

MTL would receive a 3rd round pick in 2026 from Colorado

In this insane deal, the Avalanche would become an instant Stanley Cup favorite. The Anaheim Ducks add to their already stacked prospect pool and revitalize their rebuild.

Are The Anaheim Ducks The Sneaky Winner Of This Mock Trade?

At first glance, the Colorado Avalanche getting two NHL-level assets as a contender makes it easy to consider them a far-and-away winner in this deal. However, the incredible amount of quality and quantity of players the Ducks get back makes it a debate.

If the Colorado Avalanche do not win the Stanley Cup this season their additions ultimately do not matter all that much. With the Ducks adding a top NHL prospect like Calum Ritchie who has taken a huge step, a 2025 1st round pick, and a solid NHL projectable defenseman in Sean Behrens creates a discussion.

Then of course the Montreal Canadiens kind of become the silent part of this deal. They gain a third-round pick for Jake Allen who is a player not in their long-term plans anyway.

If this trade does indeed go down it could be the biggest trade in the NHL all season. The branches and stories that this trade would create could make the next couple of seasons so fun to watch play out.
