Tonight the hockey community has come together to mourn the untimely passing of Massapequa High School hockey star Connor Kasin.

The charity game between Massapequa High School and Syosset High School was set to be competitive hockey for a good cause.

Unfortunately during an intermission, Connor Kasin collapsed immediately fans and parents in attendance tried to help the young man and give him CPR.

Sadly after being transported to the hospital by paramedics, Connor Kasin passed away at just 17 years old.

After news of Connor Kasin's passing was announced Massapequa High School put out a statement to the community.

It is heartbreaking to report that Connor did not survive. His passing is devastating to the Massapequa community, and we offer our deepest condolences to Connor's family and friends.

The statement continued as Massapequa High School detailed some of the events that occurred before Connor Kasin's passing.

It is with saddened hearts that we inform you of the passing of a 12th grade student. He experienced a sudden medical event during a varsity ice hockey game last night and was transported to the hospital by ambulance. It is heartbreaking to report that he did not survive.

Connor Kasin was a senior at Massapequa High School with dreams of playing hockey beyond high school in the NCAA.

In hopes of being recruited Connor Kasin put together a paragraph detailing his game and what he hoped to bring to a college program.

My name is Connor Kasin and I have been playing Ice Hockey since the age of four. I am an active, social, and encouraging teammate both on and off of the ice. I like to see my self as an active player in the way that I play both with and without the puck. Some things that would make me a good team candidate are my academic ability, leadership qualities, athletic performance, and my character. I can be seen as an overall defensive defenseman when it comes to my style of play. My goals are to get into a great college that provides me with both excellent coaching and education.

We send our deepest condolences to the Kasin family, Connor's friends and teammates, and the entire Massapequa community as they continue to mourn such an unimaginable loss.
