The Edmonton Oilers made the difficult decision to send goalie Jack Campbell to the AHL earlier this season. Several months into his AHL tenure Campbell is still playing embarrassingly poor. The Edmonton Oilers had a horrific start to the 2023-24 season. Poor goaltending and coaching led to the team being near the bottom of the standings a month into the season. As a result, some big changes were made. One of the most significant was veteran goaltender Jack Campbell being placed on waivers. The waiver assignment to the AHL was supposed to be a short stint for Jack Campbell. However, just a couple of games into his time in the AHL he struggled mightily. In just his third start after being sent down Jack Campbell allowed 5 goals. His poor play enraged Oilers fans who at the time were frustrated with Jack Campbell's play. He was supposed to be the bonafide starter that took the Oilers from a good to a great team. Instead just a couple of years into his five-year 25 million dollar contract Jack Campbell has turned into an anchor that limits the Edmonton Oilers from making more moves to improve their team. If things weren't already bad enough he hit a new all-time low last night letting in one of the most embarrassing goals of the season.
Jack Campbell embarrasses the Edmonton Oilers once again with terrible performance
Jack Campbell now spends his time splitting starts with the Bakersfield Condors in the AHL. At different points throughout the year, Jack Campbell has looked like he was finding his game. Every time he has a good stretch an awful moment follows. Last night was one of those awful moments for the former NHL goaltender. In a game against the Calgary Wranglers things were tight between the two sides. The teams were deadlocked at zero and Jack Campbell would need to shine if the Condors were going to have a chance. Instead with the game on the line he crumbled allowing a puck to pop up off his blocker into the air and then into the net. Lmao this is the most Jack Campbell allowed goal i've ever seen.

Jack Campbell and the Condors would go on to win the game in the shootout still. However, the blunder by the veteran goaltender seems to be the only thing that made it out of the game. As the Edmonton Oilers head into the offseason it will be fascinating to see what their plan is for Jack Campbell. He is under contract for three more seasons at five million dollars per season. Will the Oilers be able to find someone to take on Campbell as a reclamation project, give him another opportunity themselves, or bury him back in the AHL only time will be able to tell. As Read On - Hockey Feed - Jack Campbell allows another comedically bad goal Oh, Jack.
