This afternoon the strange conflict between Philadelphia Flyers captain Sean Couturier and his coach John Tortorella continues. This time Couturier's agent has gotten involved.

Sean Couturier is one of the longest tenured Philadelphia Flyers on the roster. Earlier this season he was named captain of the team and looked to be a key part of the team's future. However, recent struggles have seemed to change that future drastically. Sean Couturier was recently scratched by head coach John Tortorella. After being scratched by John Tortorella Sean Couturier spoke out and bashed his coach for the decision.

Couturier: "I've been putting the work in for a while. I've been struggling, but I've been working on my game, and it's frustrating the way I've been treated around here lately. But it is what it is."

Many fans and media around the league thought the move was made to send a message to the whole team. As a result many expected the benching to be a one-game occurrence. However, new reports have indicated something different.

No Sean Couturier for warmups. He will be a healthy scratch for the second straight game.

With a second straight scratch incoming, Sean Couturier's agent has had enough and decided to speak up for his player.

Sean Couturier's agent rips into John Tortorella on behalf of his client

In a recent interview Sean Couturier's agent Erik Lupien spoke about his clients scratching. The agent began by explaining how much Philadelphia means to Sean Couturier and that the move comes as a surprise.

From my point of view, when I saw the news (Couturier was scratched), I'm like, I really hope the communication why and the reasons why are really clear. I hope he's going to get an explanation soon because he's the captain, a leader of the team, and he has Philadelphia' tattooed on his chest since he got drafted. That's why he wanted to sign there and to sign a long contract. I hope he's going to get that respect from John Tortorella.

According to quotes from Sean Couturier himself he was unsure at the time of his first scratching why he was removed from the lineup. In the days since it has been discovered that Sean Couturier was scratched by John Tortorella due to issues with his pace of play. The Flyers will take on the Carolina Hurricanes tonight at 7 pm eastern time.

As the days continue to go by one has to wonder what it will take for John Tortorella to put his captain back into the lineup.
