This evening a vicious hit and follow-up brawl has led to an ejection and a lot of controversy during a game in the United Kingdom.

This evening reports are coming out that a game between the Cardiff Devils and the Sheffield Steelers has descended into chaos. During the game, Sheffield Steelers forward Cole Shudra was in a puck battle with Devils player Tyler Busch. Cole Shudra decided to cross-check Tyler Busch in the back. Once Busch was on the ground Cole Shurda continued to cross-check him repeatedly in the back even as Tyler Busch was on the ice unable to fight back.

The hit and subsequent cross-checks ended up earning Cole Shurda an ejection from the game. After his ejection, Cole Shudra and the Sheffield Steelers would go on to lose the game 5-3. He now could face possible suspension for his actions from the EIHL.

This incident from Cole Shudra does not seem to be an isolated incident. He is a player who plays on the edge of what is allowed in the rules. Before making the jump to the EIHL with the Sheffield Steelers Cole Shudra played in the NIHL with the Leeds Knights and had 108 penalty minutes in 56 games. While playing for Great Britain this past summer Cole Shudra was also laying the boom as well.

This level of aggression is not often seen in the game of hockey. Generally, physicality is shown within the rules or at least within a reasonable hockey play. However, the cross-checks delivered by Cole Shudra were not within the play or justified in any other way. This likely means that Cole Shudra could be facing severe punishment for his actions beyond the ejection.

So far this season with the Sheffield Steelers Cole Shudra has 2 points in 6 total games. Now it seems like he could be on his way to a lengthy suspension due to his actions. As more news comes out regarding Cole Shudra's fate after his ejection we will pass along the latest news to you.
