Tonight's game between the Edmonton Oilers and Buffalo Sabres has been brought to a halt with a very strange delay due to a Zamboni that crashed into the boards. The Edmonton Oilers traveled into Buffalo tonight to take on the struggling Sabres as they look to get their game back on track. After the first period, the Oilers found themselves down by a goal after a goal scored by Tage Thompson and looking to get back on track and bring momentum back on their side.

With the Sabres up 1-0, both teams took the ice for the second period but the start of the second period was put on hold after a Zamboni crashed into the boards. According to Buffalo Sabres reporter Paul Hamilton, the fan Zamboni took an incorrect angle and crashed into the boards as it was attempting to leave the playing surface through the opening.

The Zamboni caused damage to the boards which then needed to be fixed by the in-arena crew as an entire section of the boards needed to be replaced.

Eventually, the issue would be fixed and both teams would re-take the ice for the second period to begin. After a bad first period, the Oilers would come out of the second-period gate strong with defenseman Darnell Nurse putting home the equalizer.

Now with the boards fixed and Edmonton back to even, they will look to dictate play for the rest of the game and begin their road trip on the right note. As the game goes on it will be interesting to see if the new boards have an impact on the bounces the puck takes in that corner throughout the game.
