Jets Head Coach Scott Arniel Calls Out The Referees After Key Forward Suffers An Injury On A Dirty Hit

Tonight Winnipeg Jets head coach called out the referees and Carolina Hurricanes forward Jordan Staal for a dirty hit that led to an injury for Vlad Namestnikov.

The Winnipeg Jets took the ice tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes in a crucial game on the road.

The Jets struggled throughout the game and ended up falling 4-2 in regulation against the Hurricanes.

During the game with the Jets down 3-0 Carolina Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal caught Jets forward Vlad Namestnikov with a hit to the head that ended up landing him a two-minute penalty.

As a result of the hit, Namestnikov was sent off to the dressing room and ended up not returning to the game in the final few minutes.

After the game, the media asked head coach Scott Arniel about Namestnikov's injury and what he thought of the hit from Staal.

In his post-game press conference, Scott Arniel was asked for a status update and his thoughts on the hit that knocked Namestnikov out of the game.

In his response, Arniel first confirmed that Namestnikov is now in concussion protocol and then revealed he was not pleased with the call that the referees made.

When asked for further clarification on Namestnikov's injury Arniel said they would have a better idea of a timeline after they return to Winnipeg and have him fully evaluated.

With Namestnikov suffering such a serious injury as a result of the hit from Staal it will be interesting to see if the NHL Department of Player Safety steps in and issues a fine or suspension to Jordan Staal.
