One of the biggest NHL trade rumors this past season was Jacob Markstrom possibly being traded from the Calgary Flames to the New Jersey Devils. A deal was almost done at the deadline, with the goaltender having even waived his no-trade clause, but it fell through because of salary retention issues. <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/friedgehnic/status/1803465736427368487'> </a></blockquote></div> <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/frank_seravalli/status/1803458289285333212'> </a></blockquote></div> <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/travisyost/status/1803454314075258975'> </a></blockquote></div> Now, in the offseason, the trade has finally happened. Calgary GM Craig Conroy and Devils head man Tom Fitzgerald have agreed on a blockbuster deal. Jacob Markstrom is officially a New Jersey Devil. <q> The #Flames have traded goaltender Jacob Markstrom to #njdevils. Working on details. First on the case: @travisyost </q> <q> Markstrom to the Devils as we all expected </q> <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/ProducerDrew_/status/1803456753956278506'> </a></blockquote></div> <q> Markstrom has 2 years remaining on his deal at a AAV of $6,000,000, and is still owed $12,000,000 in salary. Worth noting that Markstrom has a full NMC and therefore would have had to waive it in order to accommodate a trade to NJ. </q> <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/capfriendly/status/1803459146403999797'> </a></blockquote></div> <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/darrendreger/status/1803462578573611161'> </a></blockquote></div> Coming from the rebuilding Flames, the Devils have landed the all-star goaltender they've desperately needed to become a serious Stanley Cup contender. More details will come when available.
