This afternoon a trade has occurred out of nowhere between the Ottawa Senators and Edmonton Oilers including a prospect swap.

Today reports are confirming that the Edmonton Oilers and Ottawa Senators have completed a trade. The Edmonton Oilers are trading top prospects Xavier Bourgault and Jake Chiasson to the Ottawa Senators for forward prospect Roby Jarventie and a 2025 4th-round pick.

TRADE: #Sens acquire Xavier Bourgault and Jake Chiasson from the #Oilers in exchange for Roby Jarventie and a 2025 4th round pick

The Ottawa Senators bring in more skill to their prospect pool with former first-round pick Xavier Bourgault. The Edmonton Oilers after trading for top prospect Matt Savoie add more physicality and complimentary play with Roby Jarventie.

Both of these teams are looking to take the next step in their teambuilding. The Oilers are looking to cross the final line and win the Stanley Cup. The Senators are looking to claw back in the playoffs. It will be fun to see if this trade moves the needle for either team.
