The Winnipeg Jets and Florida Panthers have just made a one-for-one goaltender swap, that will see Chris Driedger and Kaapo Kahkonen swap teams. As per Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, the Winnipeg Jets and Florida Panthers made a trade today with the Jets sending minor league goalie Kaapo Kahkonen to the defending champs for Chris Driedger, who is from Winnipeg.

Kahkonen was signed as a free agent with the potential to be the backup to Connor Hellebuyck, however, he was beat out by Eric Comrie for that role. He's been with the Manitoba Moose for the majority of this season. In 22 games with the Moose, the 28-year-old has a 6-14 record with a 3.29 goals-against average and a .885 save percentage, numbers that aren't meant to brag about. He made one appearance with the Avalanche in the NHL in October, which was a losing effort against the Tampa Bay Lightning that saw him give up four goals on 20 shots.
Driedger is likely excited to return to his hometown of Winnipeg
Driedger has spent the entirety of this season in the AHL with the Charlotte Checkers and is no doubt looking forward to returning to his hometown of Winnipeg. The 30-year-old has made 20 appearances with the AHL's Charlotte Checkers and has a decent 10-6-4 record with a 2.97 GAA and .878 save percentage.

Last season, he was in the Seattle Kraken organization with their affiliate team which went all the way to the AHL Finals. In total, he's played 67 NHL games for Ottawa (who drafted him in the 3rd round back in 2012), Florida, and Seattle.
