Earlier today, we mentioned the case involving Derek Lalonde and the famous Tampa Bay Lightning goalie, Andrei Vasilevskiy.

In a nutshell, Jon Cooper's former assistant, who was a close and trusted collaborator, leaked confidential information that the Tampa Bay Lightning had done extensive research on shooting from the blue line and discovered that goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy was one of the worst in the league at that level.

This discovery had led to a complete overhaul of the team's defensive coverage. When Jon Cooper was asked about this in a recent press conference, he blamed Lalonde by publicly criticizing him.

"He's just there because he was an assistant coach on this team. So he's trying to offer insight and try to give something relevant to the fans, and he should do it for real instead. He just needs to make sure it's accurate." - Via Lightning Insider

It's clear that Jon Cooper is unhappy with Derek Lalonde for publicly revealing Andrei Vasilevskiy's major weakness.

"Sportsnet pays him good money to give his opinion, so he has to make something up about that kind of stuff." - Jon Cooper

It seems that Derek Lalonde's revelation has caused quite a stir in the hockey world. Some consider Lalonde to have violated the coaches' "code" by disclosing internal team information, which is considered unacceptable in the business.
