Kris Knoblauch and Corey Perry of the Edmonton Oilers have teamed up to go head-on toward Gary Bettman after captain Connor McDavid received his suspension. Yesterday, the NHL's Department of Player Safety weighed in with a decision on Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid's cross-check to the face of Vancouver Canucks right-wing Connor Garland during Sunday's 3-2 Canucks victory over the Oilers.

McDavid received a three-game suspension for the infraction. Since the announcement, there were members of the Oilers organization that came out in opposition to the ruling, including head coach Kris Knoblauch and veteran forward Corey Perry.
Kris Knoblauch and Corey Perry attack Gary Bettman and the NHL
Knoblauch echoed a sentiment that has been around regarding McDavid taking more uncalled infractions than most, many times voicing a belief that game officials pay little mind to what is done to him. Connor plays through a lot. Ironically, he doesn't draw many penalties. Our team doesn't draw that many penalties for that matter, which is kind of ironic because we usually have the puck You look around the NHL, if you're a team that doesn't take very many penalties, you usually don't get many powerplays He puts up with more than the average player. - Kris Knoblauch Perry chimed in similarly, calling out the league's complete inability to protect its stars in a game from continuous abuse. The likely unhappy McDavid is reportedly considering skipping all NHL media events in protest of the league's decision. It's frustrating to watch when you're on his team because you see the abuse he takes. Anybody else in the league that stuff happens to, it's a penalty. But because he has the puck so much, (referees) don't want to call a penalty every time. Why aren't we protecting the superstars? Why aren't we?. Every other league does it? They protect their superstars. - Corey Perry

There is no word yet as to whether the league will take any action against these comments, but there is definitely no shortage of drama unfolding.
