Today Calgary Flames electric rookie goaltender Dustin Wolf has made a bold claim about the team's chances of making the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Calgary Flames find themselves currently <a href='https://www.nhl.com/standings' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>holding on to the final spot in the Western Conference for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.</a> Despite being in a playoff spot at this point in the season the Flames have not been able to find consistency and have not overall performed like a playoff-caliber team. One of the major reasons the Flames have stayed in the playoff race to this point has been the electric play of goaltender Dustin Wolf during his rookie season. So far in 26 appearances with the Flames Wolf has a 2.49 goals against average and a 0.916 save percentage which has catapulted him into conversations for the Calder Trophy. This afternoon Wolf spoke to the media and opened up about his expectations heading into this season. One, I wanted to make the team. Two, the next goal is you want to try to earn as many starts as you can,» Wolf explained. «And the next thing is you want to make the playoffs. While discussing his expectations, Wolf also made an incredibly bold prediction about the Flames playoff chances. <h3>Flames rookie sensation Dustin Wolf guarantees a playoff berth this season</h3> During the press conference, Wolf continued on and talked about how he has now taken his expectations up another step after taking the reigns as the starting goalie. Wolf while talking about where the team currently sits in the playoffs was adamant that no matter what it takes the Calgary Flames will clinch themselves a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs by the end of the season. We are right in the mix and I know myself, along with everybody in this room, has full belief that we're going to get in. It doesn't matter how we're going to get in. It doesn't matter if we're the three seed or the second wild-card, we're going to get in. Anytime a player makes such a bold and ambitious claim it is easy to just shove the comment aside. However, with Wolf's inspiring play and success as the season has gone on it is not hard to believe that he could be a major piece of carrying this Flames team that not many believed in to begin the year to a playoff spot. Even within the Flames locker room Wolf is turning heads and starting to make players like MacKenzie Weegar and Blake Coleman believe this team is destined for bigger things. He comes to the bench and it's the same thing, whether he makes a huge save or he lets in a goal, Weegar said. He's very calm and cool and collected in net, and he just makes a couple of saves a game that almost give you momentum and energy because you're just kind of in awe of the way he's making stops. - Blake Coleman It is incredibly clear that there has been a shift in the Flames locker room this season with players confidence skyrocketing when it comes to the ceilings they can reach in the 2024-25 season. Hopefully, the Flames front office feels as confident in this group as Wolf does and gives them some reinforcements as the NHL Trade Deadline comes along.
