Today a former NHLer and current analyst has brought up the idea that Team Canada is holding Connor McDavid back due to one major decision they made.

Earlier today after securing their spot in the 4 Nations Face-Off Finals Connor McDavid seemed frustrated with Canada's near collapse against Finland.

With the two-point game today from McDavid he now has 4 points in three games but overall has not looked as dominant as many expected him to.

Instead, the tournament to this point has been dominated by the likes of the Tkachuk brothers, Sidney Crosby and Mikael Granlund on the scoresheet.

With McDavid underperforming to the standards of many it has led to discussion about what has gone even slightly wrong for him despite being considered the most talented player in the world.

Tonight analyst Frankie Corrado has given his opinion and believes it is on the front office of Team Canada for not putting McDavid in a position to succeed.

During a new segment on TSN analyst and former NHLer Frank Corrado was speaking about Team Canada.

In the eyes of many including Corrado this tournament for Canada has been a bit of a letdown despite clinching their spot in the finals.

When trying to figure out what has gone wrong Corrado believes that Team Canada not bringing McDavid's linemate Zach Hyman to the tournament was a huge mistake.

I think the biggest error is not having Zach Hyman on the team, Corrado said. Think about, like you need Connor McDavid to be the best player in the world to play like he plays on the Edmonton Oilers. And you have his wingman who has it figured out like the guy knows it. You don't have to have this feeling-out process.

Corrado believes McDavid not having chemistry on a line with any other players on the team has been one of Canada's biggest downfalls.

He (McDavid) doesn't have someone to work off of as easily. Like we've seen Marner, we've seen Reinhart, we've seen Jon Cooper go to a line with MacKinnon, Crosby, McDavid, like we've seen a few different combinations now, but you had the guy (Hyman) ready-made.

McDavid and Hyman over the last two seasons have been electric together putting up incredible numbers with McDavid of course eclipsing the 100-point mark while Hyman scored an astounding 54 goals last season.

While McDavid did have a slow start to the tournament it seems like the most recent game against Finland provided a bit of a wake-up call for him tallying two points in what ended up being a close game.

Now McDavid will have to find a way to carry that success into the 4 Nations Face-Off Finals against the United States if he wants to bring the trophy back home to Canada.
