Tonight the Winnipeg Jets have provided a major update on Winnipeg Jets key forward and captain Adam Lowry as he works his way back from injury. With NHL practices getting back underway as the 4 Nations Face-Off comes to a close we are finally getting a look at what lineups could look like. The Winnipeg Jets have been one of the best teams in the NHL this season and have been doing so without their captain Adam Lowry who suffered an injury against the Utah Hockey Club.

After being diagnosed as a week-to-week injury Lowry had not been seen as his recovery continued away from the ice. Finally, with the Jets conducting practice for the first time we have an update on Lowry and a potential return timeline as well.
Winnipeg Jets Provide A Major Update On Captain Adam Lowry
After practice, Lowry himself as well as head coach Scott Arniel spoke and gave the long-awaited update on Lowry's status. Lowry confirmed that he was hoping to play through the injury and tried during the game against Utah but ended up being ruled out he then shared how proud he is of his teammates for the recent stretch of success they have seen without him in the lineup. I tried to get some treatment on it in the intermission, and when I was getting my gear back on I just felt like it was probably in the team's best interest that I didn't go back out there and play at 50 percent, said Lowry. After some more tests we figured out the significance. It sucks missing time. You want to be out there battling with your teammates and contributing, but a bunch of guys stepped up to rattle off eight wins. With Lowry back skating forward Mark Scheifele spoke about what that does for the Winnipeg Jets as a group having their captain finally back. He's our captain. He does so much for this team, said Scheifele. He's on PK, face-offs, he's sneaky good offensively, he makes a lot of really good plays that a lot of people don't notice. It's going to be huge having him back. A lot of us are excited to see him back skating with us. Then finally came the update from head coach Scott Arniel on when we could potentially see Lowry back in the lineup for the Jets. It's about his conditioning. He'll get tomorrow and Friday, said Arniel. I'm never going to tell a player you have to play just because we've taken the yellow (non-contact) jersey off you. He has to say he's ready to go. So for now it seems that it will be up to Lowry himself to determine when he is ready to rejoin his teammates back in the lineup as the back half of the NHL season gets underway. As those reports are made public regarding Lowry's status and eventual re-entry into the lineup we will pass along all the latest details.
