Connor McDavid collided with his teammate Darnell Nurse during practice and had to leave the ice, and now his status for tomorrow's game is unclear. Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers held their breath a little bit during the team's last practice as their captain took an early leave after colliding with defenceman Darnell Nurse mid-way through a feisty on-ice session as they worked up to Thursday's showdown with the Boston Bruins.

Apparently, though, Edmonton head coach Kris Knoblauch is of the opinion that Connor McDavid wasn't all that damaged. «I think he's doing all right. If he wasn't, I'm sure I probably would have gotten an update right away,» - Kris Knoblauch It happened in the middle of a drill and left McDavid sprawled on the ice for a number of seconds. Darnell Nurse immediately came to his side as McDavid got very gingerly to his feet and left practice as a precaution. Kris Knoblauch said post-practice that McDavid was okay but downplayed it to simply an incidental, unfortunate collision where no one was at fault. Knoblauch said there was a moment of concern but seems to think he's pretty good. As big of a cog they are, they can collectively hold their breath a little less tightly. Further updates will be passed along if/when necessary. «You hold your breath,» he said. «It wasn't like two guys chasing into the wall. It was just one guy turning left, the other turned right, and they ran into each other. I think everyone's okay.» - Kris Knoblauch

Knoblauch also updated the status of Zach Hyman, who took a puck to the face in the form of a deflection that broke his nose on Monday night. Zach Hyman might not look the prettiest, but it shouldn't keep him out of the lineup, according to Knoblauch. The Oilers feel, as they begin to ready themselves for Boston, that McDavid's ready to charge them into battle, however, his availability for that Thursday night game against the Bruins at Rogers Place still remains unclear for now.
