Edmonton Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse has been brutal in the playoffs, putting him on pace to set a new record-low in NHL history. The Panthers are up 3-0 in the Stanley Cup final, with a chance to end the series tonight. Nurse has been a bug reason for that, as his individual mistakes have lead to numerous Panthers goals. One play in particular from game three really set the Oilers back as his turnover directly lead to a goal against, giving the Panthers a two-goal lead. Darnell Nurse with an awful giveaway leads to a Panthers goal. Is this it for the Oilers?😳

Nurse has just four assists in 21 playoff games on this run with the Oilers. He's also playing nearly three less minutes per game, a clear sign that head coach Kris Knoblauch recognizes that he is a liability. His -16 rating is currently tied for the worst in a single playoffs in NHL history, giving him an excellent chance of taking the record for himself tonight, if not this season, should the Oilers keep their season alive with a win. Lowest +/- in a postseason in NHL history: -16 Darnell Nurse (2024) -16 Paul Reinhart (1983) Darnell's taking the record for himself, right?

Nurse being exposed in these playoffs has really opened a lot of eyes around the league. He was already considered to be on a rather questionable contract, but now the general consensus is that he genuinely has one of, if not the worst, contract in the league. Nurse has six more years left on his deal and comes with a 9.25 million dollar cap hit. Darnell Nurse at $9.25M x 6 more years has to be one of the worst contracts in the NHL.

Be sure to tune in tonight to see if Nurse sets a new record as well as if the Oilers will be able to keep their season alive. If not, the Stanley Cup will be awarded tonight.
