With a potential Stanley cup champion being crowned tonight in game 4 between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers, Gary Bettman urges NHL teams to not make any moves. The entire hockey world has had their eyes peeled on the Stanley Cup Final, and while making moves is not against NHL rules, many teams are urged to avoid taking attention away from hockey's biggest stage until the final is over. According to an insider who has previously broke news for the Ottawa Senators organization, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman himself urged the other 28 NHL teams not to make moves during the final, as to not take any attention away from the on ice product.

As mentioned, making roster moves during the Stanley Cup Final is not against any NHL rules, however should the commissioner of the NHL ask the owners to comply, surely they will follow suit, as disregarding such a request could land any owner in hot water with the NHL. If this is to be believed, and Florida ends up winning the Stanley Cup Saturday night, there could be an influx of roster moves on Monday, strongly suggesting that Bettman nixed any moves. Things like unofficial roster freezes have been common since Bettman took over, and will likely continue until his retirement.
