The Edmonton Oilers have been hit with not one but two offer sheets, and now a top insider reveals this could have all been avoided. Tuesday was a chaotic day for the Edmonton Oilers, as the St. Louis Blues officially tendered offer sheets to both Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway, with new GM Stan Bowman now having seven days to answer.

If that wasn't bad enough for Oilers fans, who are at risk of losing two promising players that the team have put plenty of time into developing, a new report has been revealed from Oilers insider Bob Stauffer that could make things even worse.

According to Stauffer, former General Manager Ken Holland, whose contract with the team ran out after the Stanley Cup Finals, was told to re-sign the two back in January, but ultimately declined the move, believing they'd be open to a deal in the off-season. Now, because of that move, the already under pressure Stan Bowman has to make two huge decisions on potentially key pieces of this Oilers team, and if they lose both, that is two key depth players that are on the way out. It can't all be blamed on Holland, as the two may not have wanted to make a deal at that point, but given the criticism he sustained while in the role with the Oilers, it's safe to say that fans will harbour even more hatred for him after this report.
