Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have been critical to the success of the Edmonton Oilers, and now they're set up to get paid in a big way according to one insider. The future of the Edmonton Oilers could be hanging in the balance over the next 18 months, but for those that fear the departure of the team's two biggest stars, those worries may soon be alleviated. NHL Insider Frank Seravalli recently discussed the future of captain Connor McDavid and superstar forward Leon Draisaitl, and it was nothing but good news for the Oilers fans.

According to Seravalli, the two are both expected to extend for long-term deals, with the AAV between the two potentially coming in at under $30 million combined, and while no one has yet hit the $15 million mark, both of these two are worthy of such gaudy numbers. Last summer, Auston Matthews made NHL history when his number came in at $13.25 million per season, but according to all reports, both Draisaitl and McDavid are set to surpass that number, with their captain becoming extension eligible in the summer of 2025. It's unclear at this point what McDavid will be asking for, but with three Hart Trophies and an incredible 982 points in 645 games played, he will certainly reset the contract market for the future of the NHL, with plenty more success expected in Edmonton.
