The Edmonton Oilers have made a surprising choice for their game 5 starting goaltender as they look to take the series lead against the Vancouver Canucks tonight. The Oilers Vs. Canucks series currently is currently tied at two in what turned out to be a very interesting matchup to follow. The only two Canadian teams remaining in the playoffs are competing fiercly night after night as they look to make their way to the Conference Finals. Both teams have gotten their share of bad luck between the pipes, forcing them to rely on number two goalies: Arturs Silovs and Calvin Pickard. The Canucks' top goalie Thatcher Demko got injured in the first round of the playoffs and Silovs has been very good filling for him. As for the Oilers, Stuart Skinner had to be replaced, as he proved he couldn't make the big saves and stand up when his team need him to. Calvin Pickard, who filled in for Skinner during the third game of the series against the Canucks, will once again be trusted to defend the Oilers' net:

Pickard, 32, never got his shot at playing a playoff game before this season. He looks determine to make the best ouf of the situation. In a press conference, head coach Kris Knoblauch explained his decision after the goalie's win in game four: So another thing that gives a coach a lot of confidence is what he sees in practice. When I see a guy battling, looking sharp, and it's easy to, or it's easier to make that decision.

It's definitely an unusual matchup for the goalies in the series, but we're here for it. Stay tuned for further developments.
