Evan Bouchard had an incredible breakout year for the Oilers last season, and now the talented defenseman is looking to cash in. The 2023/24 season was special in so many ways for the Edmonton Oilers, but it was Evan Bouchard whose stock rose perhaps more than anyone on the entire team. The 24-year old set career highs in goals (18), assists (64) and points (82), leading into the Stanley Cup Playoffs where he absolutely dominated, tallying an incredible 6 goals and 32 points over 25 games. Now, after the team has already paid Leon Draisaitl and are gearing up to extend Connor McDavid, talks around Bouchard have come to the fore, despite being 'radio silent' all summer long.

Unsurprisingly, Bouchard is looking to get paid in a big way, and with the comparable being Rasmus Dahlin in Buffalo, it appears that Bouchard is looking to get in the ballpark of $11 million AAV on his next deal.

On the surface, Bouchard is worth every penny, but with the team recently paying Draisaitl $14 million AAV and the impending Connor McDavid deal, it's hard to see how they'll get this one in under the salary cap. Regardless, he's a vital piece of the Oilers present and future, so they will seemingly find a way to get it done as they continue their chase for their first Stanley Cup since 1990.
