The Edmonton Oilers are trying to close in on a deal with Leon Draisaitl, and now one of his top contract demands has officially been revealed.

Leon Draisaitl is due to become one of, if not the NHL's highest paid player in the very near future, and while he doesn't hit free agency until the summer of 2025, a deal could reportedly be done any day now. While most expect him to land a deal worth $13 million or more, the latest update on the situation may say otherwise, as it has been revealed he's open to a pay cut under two circumstances.

Leon Draisaitl has reportedly informed the #Oilers he would be willing to take a pay cut if the others (Bouchard, McDavid) would be willing to do the same, and if he could sign a long-term eight-year deal.

According to the report, Draisaitl is open to a pay cut if his star teammates Evan Bouchard and Connor McDavid also are, as well as the Oilers giving him an eight-year deal, both of which seem to be reasonable demands from the superstar forward. It's unclear at this point whether a deal is going to happen before the 2024/25 NHL season begins, as the two parties aren't currently deep in discussion, but with his demands laid bare and years of production, it's safe to say the team would be silly to not give him what he wants.
